From Aston Martins with ejector seats and water cannons to a Lotus Esprit reborn as a submarine to a Venetian gondola miraculously transformed into a hovercraft, the vehicles in the James Bond film series are as legendary as the spy himself.

James Bond Cars, the third officially authorized volume on 007 by Assouline (after James Bond Destinations and James Bond Style), is the most comprehensive chronicle ever published on the iconic automobiles featured in the 25 films—and all the other unforgettable machines on land, water, and in the air: motorcycles, helicopters, speedboats, airships, snowmobiles, jetpacks, and even bizarre one-offs developed specifically for Bond's world (think of the autogyro "Little Nellie" from 1967's On Her Majesty's Secret Service).

Curated and introduced by Chris Corbould, OBE, Oscar-winning special effects supervisor who has worked on fifteen Bond films, James Bond Cars is both a high-speed visual archive and an insider's account of how some of the most spectacular stunts in film history were created. The book contains over 300 images, from rare behind-the-scenes shots to design drawings and production documents. Corbould's commentary provides fascinating insights into technical tricks, one-off stunts, and near-failed scenes—and, of course, the vehicles that made them possible.

The volume takes us film by film through six decades of Bond history—from the Sunbeam Alpine in Dr. No (1962) to the bullet-riddled Aston Martin DB5 in No Time To Die (2021). In addition to Bond's own cars, the book also features the vehicles of his allies, adversaries, and love interests—from Bentley, BMW, and Land Rover to Sunseeker, Glastron, and Boeing 747. Particular focus is placed on the Aston Martin brand, which appears in almost half of all the films and is represented in this work by numerous models, including the DB5, DBS, V8, and Vanquish.

With hundreds of vehicles on land, water, and in the air (or even in space), James Bond Cars presents the Bond series as the ultimate testing ground for cinematic engineering and adventure.
